The Facilities Assistant is responsible for a wide variety of tasks to maintain a multi-building campus on 100+ residential acres. This is a full-time benefited position, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend requirements for emergencies or on-campus events. The position requires a wide array of skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of exterior and interior of buildings, including carpentry and painting;
  • Procuring parts or supplies;
  • Driving company vehicle(s);
  • Assisting in maintenance of grounds;
  • Snow removal and ice control;
  • Materials handling and preparation;
  • Occasional cleaning and organizing of any campus area;
  • Helping to manage inventory;
  • Recording and reporting performed maintenance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helping out in other areas as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good motor skills are essential;
  • Valid unencumbered driver's license is required;
  • Has experience with carpentry and machinery repair;
  • Has sufficient woodworking experience to pursue projects independently;
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical, and construction trades is helpful;
  • Willingness to learn new skills is important;
  • Ability to work and communicate clearly with others is necessary;
  • Must be able to use computer, familiar with MS Word and Excel, and willing to learn other equipment monitoring software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift up to 70 pounds; be active for the majority of the day; climb ladders and work in low or small spaces; use equipment such as snow blowers and power washers; move furniture; and similar tasks requiring strength and agility.

The employee will work both indoors and outside in all weather conditions. Local travel will be required as well as occasional distance travel for deliveries, picking up supplies and transporting staff and guests.
